Before you order
The questions we get most — sizing, base prep, delivery and what happens when something arrives wrong. Still stuck? Send us your measurements and we’ll answer directly.
Measure what you're storing, not the yard. A push mower plus basic tools fits a 4×6. Add a bike or a wheelbarrow and you want 6×8. Ride-on mower, ladders and seasonal storage means 8×10 or bigger. Every listing shows exterior footprint and interior floor space separately — the interior is always smaller than the name suggests.
That's set by your city or county, not by us. Many areas allow sheds under 100–200 sq ft with no permit, but setback rules from fences and property lines still apply, and HOA rules are separate. Check with your local building department before you order — it takes one phone call and it's cheaper than moving a shed.
Never straight on grass or dirt. The standard is a level gravel pad: excavate a few inches, add compacted crushed stone, and frame it so it drains. Concrete works too and lasts longer. Plastic base kits are fine for small resin sheds. The base has to be level and slightly larger than the shed footprint — an uneven base is the single most common reason doors stop closing.
Depends on the model. Most resin sheds include a moulded floor. Most metal sheds do not — they're designed to sit on a base you build. The listing states it under the specs, and if a floor kit is sold separately we link it there.
Curbside drop-off by freight carrier to the lower 48. The driver brings it to the end of your driveway, not into the yard and not around the back. Boxes are heavy and awkward, so plan to have a second person and a hand truck. You'll get a call to schedule a delivery window.
Small resin sheds: two to four hours with two people. Mid-size metal sheds: most of a day. Large wood sheds and playsets: a full weekend. Two people is not optional on anything over 6×8 — panels are large and catch wind.
Photograph the box and the part before you do anything else, then contact us within 30 days. Most manufacturers ship replacement parts directly and free. Don't return the whole unit for one bent panel — it's slower and you'll be without the shed longer.

Warranty, weather, upkeep and returns — what to expect once the shed is standing in your yard.
The manufacturer. Keter, Lifetime, Suncast and the rest each run their own warranty programme, and terms vary by model — some cover 10 years, some 15, some 2. The listing states the term. We'll help you open the claim and chase it, but the replacement parts come from them.
Depends on the model and on how you anchored it. Every shed we list has a manufacturer snow-load and wind rating in the specs — check it against your region before ordering. Anchoring is the part people skip: an un-anchored shed is a sail. Anchor kits are included with most models and we say so on the listing.
Galvanized steelwith a powder-coat finish resists it for years, but the finish has to stay intact. Scratches from a mower or a shovel are where rust starts, so touch them up. Don't let soil or mulch pile against the base panels, and keep the base draining properly.
Less than people expect. Clear leaves off the roof twice a year, keep gutters and the base drain clear, check the door hardware once a season, and re-tighten anchor bolts after the first winter. Wood sheds need re-staining every two to three years; resin and metal don't.
No. Once it's built it can't go back — that's standard across the industry, not just us. Unopened boxes can be returned within 30 days, but return freight on something this size is expensive and comes out of the refund. This is exactly why we'd rather answer sizing questions before you order than process a return after.
Usually yes, and many models have manufacturer accessory kits designed for them. Drilling into panels yourself can void the warranty on some brands, so check the manual first. If you tell us what you want to add, we'll tell you whether there's an official kit.
Metal and resin sheds can be disassembled and rebuilt, though panels and fasteners take wear each time. Wood sheds are much harder to move once built. Either way you'll need a fresh level base at the new place.
